artist statement

I’m skeptical about the world of art and my own place within it. Society expects artists to be agents of change, provide entertainment and pleasure, yet simultaneously criticize and exclude us. I feel frustrated with our institutions and doubt “optimistic” liberal universality. I yearn for a world where we can exist without such burdens. I fight for our collective liberation while I mourn the death and destruction our current world order has perpetrated. Art is living and breathing; deserving both space and grace. Our stories have the power to change the world, but we need the freedom to express ourselves, especially young artists who require time to grow and breathe before taking on the task of saving the world while navigating capitalistic demands of commercialized art.

I love creating. I revel in the comfort of wordless expression and the meaningful connections I make with others through my art. I have a deep curiosity about understanding the human condition through my work and embrace the challenges, frustrations, and the tactile experience of experimenting with different mediums, particularly the joy of working with my hands.

I see photography as a means of capturing the beauty of everyday life, finding freedom in this art form. Photography is the rawest and most pure work with light. While creating and telling stories connects me to the people around me, photography is my direct bridge of communication with the world around me, and this connection brings me immense joy.

Painting is a form of play that provides a direct connection to my imagination. Painting allows me to experiment with color and form. I reflect on the challenges and rewards of abstract painting: it is simultaneously freeing and frustrating, delivering to me, my innermost thoughts and emotions.

Through creating, I discover my voice and find a unique form of expression through the paintbrush, the stage, the shutter, or the ink.

I believe artists have the power to change the world. We are visionaries of the fourth dimension. art is a continuous journey of learning and a practice fueled by passion.

Art is an expression of love.

To make art is to love.

To love is to see

feel

hear

touch

become art.

Glimcher, K. (2026). Land Grabs, Control, and Agricultural Policy-Making in Ethiopia. Hemispheres, 49(1). https://doi.org/10.62327/cuvxxjz5zj

The agricultural sector in Ethiopia has been a cornerstone of the nation’s economy. This paper examines the expansion of foreign agricultural investments after the Great Recession and its implications for the federal motivations behind shifts in agricultural policymaking and governance. To investigate this problem, the paper draws on existing literature on Ethiopian land regimes and agricultural investment, as well as case studies on flagship agricultural projects and labor conditions in the floriculture sector. I argue that while foreign agricultural investment may theoretically aid the larger macroeconomic needs of Ethiopia, the Ethiopian government has unduly prioritized political consolidation of regional governance as well as bolstering the export economy. In practice, state-led promotion of foreign investment has marginalized regional autonomy, weakened smallholder land security, and contributed to labor precarity and livelihood insecurity in affected communities.

directorial visions

To demonstrate our replaceability in the machine and to interrogate our unconscious complacency WE ASK… What happens when you are so trapped in your role that violence becomes the only path to freedom?

How do we find ourselves with, and in, each other?

We seek to explore the “life of the village” as “the life of the stars,” not against. How does our memory transcend time and space?

What do we do when we feel so trapped in our role that violence is the only way out?

Theatre that makes us uncomfortable is vital to us as makers, and audience members, so that we may confront ourselves with the grotesque nature of what society demands of us, and how that can affect us as people – how we move through the world.
